Northern Ocean Habitat for Humanity receives $15,000 from Wells Fargo

Wells Fargo expands access to affordable homes in Ocean County.

Toms River, New Jersey (December 1, 2023) –The Wells Fargo Foundation has awarded $15,000 in grants to Northern Ocean Habitat for Humanity’s 23rd home build in Manitou Park, Berkeley Township. Northern Ocean Habitat for Humanity is one of more than 230 Habitat for Humanity affiliates awarded grant funding nationwide through the 2023 Wells Fargo Builds program to help more low to moderate income families access affordable homes.

The grant to Northern Ocean Habitat for Humanity along with the support of Wells Fargo volunteers will help build a home for a mother and her two sons, giving them stability and security.

We are proud to partner with Wells Fargo to make homeownership a dream come true for Laniece and her sons," said Kristine Novakowski, Executive Director of Northern Ocean Habitat for Humanity.

“Wells Fargo is the Bank of Doing, and through our support of the Northern Ocean Habitat for Humanity, we are working with this incredible organization to support our commitment to housing affordability and making accessible, affordable, and sustainable housing a priority,” said Wanda Saez, lead community impact & sustainability specialist at Wells Fargo. “This partnership provides our local Wells Fargo employees with volunteer opportunities to help build, repair, and revitalize communities, and make a positive impact in our community.”

On October 12, Wells Fargo volunteers joined Northern Ocean Habitat for Humanity’s Building Homes from the Heart event to help the next partner family. They began building the exterior panels of the 23rd home build.

At least one in six New Jersey households spend over half of their income on housing and the number of Ocean County families who are struggling to afford rent is on the rise.

This funding is part of a $7.5 million donation to Habitat for Humanity International through the 2023 Wells Fargo Builds program to build and repair more than 350 affordable homes nationwide.
