Toms River Elks & Primetime Center Help Feed Military Families

Toms River Elks Welcomes Primetime Center Participants In An Effort To Help Feed Veterans, Military Families and Deployed Soldiers.

Toms River Elks Lodge #1875 recently welcomed participants from the Primetime Center of Brick in a collaborative effort to benefit military families. Participants of the Primetime Center, a local day habilitation program, collected and delivered enough nonperishable goods to fill the back of a pickup truck. All of the items were immediately loaded into the truck for distribution to local military families, veterans, and deployed soldiers.

The Toms River Elks ongoing collection of nonperishable items is organized by member and Navy veteran Sieggy Jaworski. Some of the most commonly needed items include canned tuna, vegetables and fruits, peanut butter and jelly, boxed and canned pasta, pasta sauce and soups. Personal care items including trial size shampoos and toothpaste are also useful.

Part of the mission of the Toms River Elks is to serve its community and the people within it through benevolent programs such as the Special Children’s Committee, Veterans Committee, and Drug Awareness Program. Primetime’s visit offered an opportunity to learn more about the lodge and what they do.

Cheyenne Gamsby, a recently initiated Elk, is a participant at Primetime along with several other Elks. Cheyenne was so excited to become an Elk that she wanted her friends to learn about the Elks. The visit was hosted by Jaworski and his wife Past Exalted Ruler Kathy Jaworski, along with Special Children's Committee co-chairs Kathy DeMey and Charlene Dolan. The effort reminds us that everyone has something to contribute and can make a difference.

Local companies and organizations wanting to support our veterans and active military are invited to contact the Toms River Elks to discuss ways to collaborate.
