TRYC to Host 2023 International Lightning North American Championship

The regatta will be held from August 5th - 11th, 2023

The Toms River Yacht Club (TRYC) is pleased to have been chosen as the host yacht club for the 2023 International Lightning Class North American Championship (ILCNAC). The regatta will be held from August 5th - 11th, 2023.

The Toms River Yacht Club is deeply rooted in Ocean County’s rich sailing history and has been at the forefront of the Barnegat Bay and sailing community for over 152 years. The club is open year-round and over the years TRYC has been the host numerous local, regional, national and world regattas. The Club’s reputation in the sailing world extends well beyond local shores.

The Lightning was designed and built in 1937 and over the years the class has grown to include more than 15,000 boats worldwide. With 150 active fleets worldwide, the Lightning Class is the largest multicrew one design in the world in terms of number of fleets, active class members, and regatta participation. Lightnings are very technical to race due to a hard-chine hull and abundant sail controls.
