After what seems like a neverending winter, we will get a taste of summer.

Consider it an appetizer.

After what has seemed like unending days of cold weather and precipitation, there’s a taste of summer coming this weekend. We just have to get through the rain on Friday.

The National Weather Service is calling for temperatures in the mid- to upper 70s on Saturday, with abundant sunshine -- the kind of day that will have people breaking out the shorts and flip-flops and heading to the beach.

But like an appetizer before the main meal, Saturday’s beautiful weather is going to give way to a return of the chill and clouds on Sunday. Take heart, however: Memorial Day weekend is just five weeks away.

Friday

Midnight-6 a.m.: 50 degrees, drizzling rain.

6 a.m.-noon: 63 degrees, drizzle.

Noon-6 p.m.: 67 degrees, drizzle. Thunderstorms possible beginning at 1 p.m.

6 p.m.-midnight: 56 degrees, rain ends by 9 p.m.

Saturday

Midnight-6 a.m.: 53 degrees. Fog possible.

6 a.m.-noon: Skies clearing. Temperatures rising to 70 degrees.

Noon-6 p.m.: High reaches 75 degrees, possibly warmer. Breezy, with west winds up to 18 mph.

6 p.m.-midnight: Temperatures fall to about 70 degrees.

Sunday

Midnight-6 a.m.: Temperature falls to 41 degrees. Winds 10-13 mph.

6 a.m.-noon: Sunny, high near 60.

Noon-6 p.m.: Clouds begin to move in about 6 p.m.

6 p.m.-midnight: Cloudy, 53 degrees.

Monday

Rain possible, especially after 2 a.m. Lows around 50 degrees. High near 60, Chance of precipitation is 80 percent.
