DWI Arrests, Porch Pirates Reported In Westfield

Westfield Police released the blotter for incidents over the past week.

WESTFIELD, NJ — DWI arrests, package theft, attempted car burglary were reported recently in Westfield.

On June 2 at 10:22 p.m.: Glenn Banks, 34, North Plainfield, was arrested on the strength of a Somerset County NCIC Warrant with bail set at $13,920.88, following a motor vehicle stop in the area of 800 West North Avenue. Banks was processed and turned over to the Somerset County Sheriff's Office, in lieu of bail.

On June 5 at 1:44 a.m.: Joseph Spiekermann, 58, Linden, was arrested for DWI subsequent to a motor vehicle stop on Central Avenue, near Starlight Court. Spiekermann was taken to Westfield Police Headquarters where he was processed and later released with a Westfield Municipal Court date.

On June 5 at 8:15 p.m.: Westfield Police responded to the PNC Bank parking lot located on East Broad Street, near the intersection of Prospect Street, on the report of a subject riding a bicycle in the parking lot in between vehicles and pulling on door handles. The subject was described as a black man, 18-20 years of age, wearing multi-colored clothing, riding on a rainbow-colored BMX-style bicycle. A check of the vehicles in the lot found them to all be locked, resulting in no entry being gained. The suspect fled the area prior to police arrival.

On June 6 at 5:47 p.m.: A resident reports multiple male suspects searching for package deliveries in the area of the 100 block of Brown Avenue. The resident saw a suspect remove a package from his front porch, which contained multiple iPhones valued at around $3,950. The suspects fled the area in two different motor vehicles.

On June 7 at 4:35 p.m.: Laura Faitoute, 42, Westfield, was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated, following a motor vehicle crash on West South Avenue, near the Traffic Circle. Faitoute was taken to Westfield Police Department where she was processed and released with a future court date.
