Union Co. Man Sentenced In 2021 Fatal Shooting

ELIZABETH, NJ — An Elizabeth man was sentenced to 20 years in state prison for the fatal shooting of Shamar Brown, 34 of Elizabeth, Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel, Elizabeth Police Director Earl Graves, and Elizabeth Police Chief Giacomo Sacca announced Thursday.

Union County Superior Court Judge Stacy Boretz sentenced Deshon Fleming, 38, to 20 years in State Prison for aggravated manslaughter. Fleming must serve at least 85 percent of that sentence before being eligible for parole.

At around 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 16, 2021, members of the Elizabeth Police Department went to the intersection of Second Street and Bond Street in Elizabeth, where they found Brown having sustained a fatal gunshot wound.
