Springfield Firefighter/EMT Unexpectedly Dies, Leaves Behind Family

A GoFundMe fundraiser has been set up for Tony DeCampos's family to support his children and family during this challenging time.

SPRINGFIELD, NJ — The Springfield community is mourning the unexpected death of Firefighter/EMT Tony DeCampos.

"Tony was taken from us far too soon, leaving behind a profound void in the lives of those who knew and loved him. He had a big heart and loved fishing, cooking, and most importantly his family. His infectious laughter and his unwavering kindness defined him," said the Springfield FMBA local 57.

DeCampos was a member of Local 57 for more than 10 years as well as a member of NJ Task Force One.

A GoFundMe fundraising website was launched on Wednesday with a goal of $50,000 for DeCampos' family to support his children and family during this challenging time.

Donations raised will support DeCampos' two sons and family.

"Your generous donations will go directly towards securing their future- providing for their education and their needs as they navigate life without their father by their side," according to the GoFundMe.

"Tony's legacy lives on through his children, family, and memories of his time and service. Rest easy brother, we will take it from here," said the Springfield FMBA local 57.
