NJ Senator Bramnick to Address Government’s Role in Combatting Growing Anti-Semitic Incidents

Event Details

B'nai Shalom, 300 Pleasant Valley Way, West Orange, NJ, 07052

With anti-Semitic incidents more than doubling in New Jersey last year according to a recent report by the Anti-Defamation League, the upcoming talk by New Jersey Senator Jon Bramnick on “Anti-Semitism in New Jersey – What Government Can Do” has taken on greater urgency. Bramnick will address this issue at a B'nai Shalom Culture and Learning Center event.

Senator Bramnick has been outspoken on the need for greater government involvement in curbing anti-Semitism. This includes his call for the state legislature to investigate Rutgers University officials who he has criticized for negotiating with anti-Israeli demonstrators on the Rutgers campus in New Brunswick.

In an interview last month with the Fox News Channel, Senator Bramnick said Rutgers officials should be making the demands – not giving into them. He said these demands should include the need for all students to recognize the horror of the October 7th attack on Israel, a call for the release of the hostages, a demand that the illegal occupation of campus be stopped, a condemnation of Hamas and their terror, and student recognition that Israel has the right to exist.

Senator Bramnick has decried how the Gaza War issue has given people a stage to strike at the Jewish people – including those in New Jersey. This has included “Heil Hitler” salutes directed at Jewish students in the state, physical assaults and online death threats. “It’s got to stop,” he said.

Bramnick is serving his second term in the New Jersey State Senate representing Middlesex, Morris, Somerset, and Union Counties. He previously served in the New Jersey General Assembly for nine terms and served for ten years as the Assembly Minority Leader. Bramnick has been honored with the James J. McLaughlin Award from the New Jersey Bar Association, presented to a lawyer who has demonstrated civility, legal competence, and professionalism. He was named the Professional Attorney of the Year by the Union County Bar Association
