Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of DANIELLA ALIAGA (DOB: 3/06/1997; single; warehouse worker) of 20 West Church Street, Apartment 3, Bergenfield, NJ on arson charges. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Fair Lawn Police Department under the direction of Chief Glen Cauwels.
On Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at approximately 5:25 a.m., the Fair Lawn Police Department received a call regarding a vehicle fire at 12-65 Western Drive, Fair Lawn, NJ. Members of the Fair Lawn Police Department responded and discovered that the fire had already been extinguished. In the gas cap of the vehicle was a cotton rag that appeared as if it had been lit on fire, and the tires of two of the owner’s vehicles were slashed. The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit Arson Task Force was requested to respond and an investigation ensued.
An investigation conducted by detectives from the Fair Lawn Police Department and the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office revealed that DANIELLA ALIAGA set fire to the vehicle and slashed the tires.
On Wednesday, February 16, DANIELLA ALIAGA was arrested and charged with one count of second-degree aggravated arson, N.J.S.A. 2C:17-1a(2); third-degree arson, N.J.S.A. 2C:17-1b(1); and fourth-degree causing or risking widespread injury or damage, N.J.S.A. 2C:17-2c. She was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending her first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.
Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and he would like to thank the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office and the Fair Lawn Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.
