Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of CHRISTOPHER J. GRIEG (DOB: 4/20/1982; single; unemployed) of Clifton, New Jersey on charges of stalking, contempt of a stalking restraining order and cyber-harassment. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love.

In September 2021, members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit were informed that a victim received more than 20 anonymous, alarming phone calls and multiple text messages from an unknown caller using technology to anonymize his Caller ID. The investigation revealed that, between September 5, 2021 and October 10, 2021, CHRISTOPHER J. GREIG used the Internet to generate numerous phone calls and send anonymous electronic messages to the victim.

As a result of the investigation, CHRISTOPHER J. GREIG was arrested on October 12, 2021 in Paramus, New Jersey and charged with one count of third-degree stalking, N.J.S.A. 2C:12-10c; one count of fourth-degree contempt of a stalking restraining order, N.J.S.A. 2C:29-9a; and one count of fourth-degree cyber-harassment, N.J.S.A. 2C:33-4.1. GREIG was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack.

Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Prosecutor Musella thanks the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department, Lyndhurst Police Department and Rochelle Park Police Department which participate in the Bergen County Cyber Crimes Task Force.
