The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Hackensack Police Department under the direction of Officer In Charge Captain Darren DeWitt.

On Friday, September 24, 2021, the Hackensack Police Department received information that EDISSON SAUL GUARTAZACA-ALI engaged in sexual conduct with a child under the age of 13 in Hackensack. The investigation further revealed that some of the sexual assaults occurred in the presence of another minor child and that GUARTAZACA-ALI provided pornographic materials to another minor child.

As a result of the investigation, on Friday, September 24, 2021, EDISSON SAUL GUARTAZACA-ALI was arrested and charged by the Hackensack Police Department with one count of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2a(1); one count of second-degree sexual assault by sexual contact, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2b; one count of third-degree providing obscenity to a minor, N.J.S.A. 2C:34-3; and three counts of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a(1). EDISSON SAUL GUARTAZACA-ALI was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.

Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and he would like to thank the Hackensack Police Department for its assistance in this investigation.
