“Our student-athletes faced many challenges this semester due to juggling pandemic protocols, their schoolwork and their athletic exploits,” Bergen President Eric M. Friedman, Ph.D., said. “We are all proud of our student-athletes for their perseverance, determination and commitment in a time of such challenges.”

Among the honorees, pitcher Joseph Miceli, of Oakland, earned second-team all-Region XIX and second-team all-conference recognition while also notching academic all-conference and academic all-region awards for maintaining a 3.25 GPA or higher during the spring semester. Teammate and infielder Michael Casaleggio, of Oakland, joined Miceli on the all-region and all-conference second-teams.

The following student-athletes also received academic all-conference and academic all-region honors for GPAs above 3.25:

  • Anthony Bertollo, of Hawthorne (Track & Field);
  • Michael Cardone, of Denville (Baseball);
  • Josh Cohen, of Oakland (Baseball);
  • Juan De la Hoz, of Naples, Florida (Baseball);
  • Joseph Dutan, of Hackensack (Track & Field);
  • Chase Geisler, of Lodi (Baseball);
  • Ian Heffley, of Kensington, Maryland (Baseball);
  • Pablo Herrera, of Fairview (E-Sports);
  • Zach Kasperowicz, of Wayne (Baseball);
  • Sebastian Lidwin, of Elmwood Park (E-Sports);
  • Johnny Medina, of Montavle (Baseball); and
  • Isabella Romano, of Melbourne, Australia (E-Sports).

    • Baseball players Anthony Marchetto, of Saddle Brook, and Garrett Salameno, of Wanaque, achieved all-conference honors by earning GPAs higher than 3.0.

    Based in Paramus, Bergen Community College (www.bergen.edu), a public two-year coeducational college, enrolls more than 13,000 students at locations in Paramus, the Philip Ciarco Jr. Learning Center in Hackensack and Bergen Community College at the Meadowlands in Lyndhurst. The College offers associate degree, certificate and continuing education programs in a variety of fields. More students graduate from Bergen than any other community college in the state.
