See the latest announcement from the Borough of Westwood.

August 22, 2021

Dear Residents:Westwood OEM has been monitoring Hurricane Henri’s approach since Friday. Henri is tacking Eastward , expected to make landfall on Long Island later this morning or early this afternoon. It is expected to dump 3-6 inches of rain across the storm’s path and create storm surges of 1-3 feet. It is a Category One hurricane, and is expected to be downgraded to a Tropical Storm. High winds are expected to buffet the area.Westwood PD has made preparations for road closures readying cones and barricades, assigning additional personnel (should they be needed) - desk and patrol - ensuring assets are fueled and generators are prepped and ready from DPW should they be needed to run traffic signals for power outages of any duration. Yesterday, DPW cleared storm drains of debris , concentrating especially on flood prone low lying parts of town.WVFD has similarly gassed and prepped its tools and apparatus and has readied the rescue boat.We have a 2 PM call scheduled with PSEG and will continue to monitor events as they unfold. Please limit driving on roads to essential trips. If you encounter downed wires stay away and report them. If the borough needs to communicate with residents, it will do so through the Reverse 911 call system. Ray ArroyoWestwood Mayor
