WESTWOOD-HILLSDALE, NJ — The midterm primary elections are today, and voters across Bergen County headed out to the polls.

Here's a look at significant races on the ballot in Westwood, Hillsdale, and around the county.

Westwood

Democrat Lesley Whyard is running against Republicans Robert Bicocchi and Beth Dell, who are defending their seats on Borough Council.

Hillsdale

Republicans Janetta Trochimiuk, the incumbent, and Justin Fox filed to run for the two open Council seats. No Democrats put in a petition, Hillsdale Municipal Clerk Denise Kohan told Patch earlier this year.

Other races

Countywide, Republican candidates are looking to gain ground at the county level, in the executive's office and on the Board of County Commissioners, where Democrats hold sway.

Todd Calguire of Midland Park and Linda T. Barba of Fort Lee are vying for the ballot place opposite County Executive James Tedesco III, a Democrat.

Six Republicans have filed to run against three incumbent Democrats on the Board of County Commissioners .

At the federal level, five Republicans have filed to run for Rep. Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5)'s seat in the fall.

Rep. Bill Pascrell Jr. (NJ-9) will face Republican Billy Prempeh, who has no opponents in his primary.
