Lightbridge Academy Daycare Suspends Tuition For Govt. Workers

All Lightbridge Academy facilities in New Jersey will offer deferred tuition for 2 months for parents who work for the federal government.

WESTWOOD, NJ — A well-known New Jersey daycare facility is suspending payments for its parents who work for the federal government.

All Lightbridge Academy facilities in New Jersey will offer deferred tuition for two months at its 13 company-owned centers, including its Westwood location.

"In New Jersey, we have about 2,000 kids enrolled at Lightbridge and I know we have parents who've been affected by the shutdown in Fair Lawn, for example," said Guy Falzarano, the company's CEO. "We want to be there for them at this time."

Tuition at Lightbridge Academy ranges from $1,200 to $1,500 a month. Most families have already paid their January tuition, so that means any affected federal worker can defer their February and March bill, or until they get a paycheck again.

"We want to help families and right now they are literally struggling to put food on the table," Falzarano told Patch. "We are going to do this until this stupid shutdown is over."

The offer is good at all 13 Lightbridge corporate centers: The child care company was started in Iselin and has since expanded, with locations in Westwood, Fair Lawn, Fort Lee, Mahwah and Manalapan, to name a few.

The other Lightbridge facilities, including those outside New Jersey, are franchises and Falzarano said they asked their franchisees on Friday if they would consider doing the same as corporate has done.

Lightbridge also offered tuition breaks during the Great Recession of 2008.
