The number of fully vaccinated people in Westwood is creeping closer to 50 percent, according to the latest state data.

WESTWOOD, NJ — Over 93 percent of Westwood seniors have received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose, but the community has a ways to go before reaching the 70 percent goal set by the state.

New data released by the New Jersey Department of Health breaks down how many people over 65 and over 18 have had at least one vaccine dose, and how many people in those groups are fully vaccinated.

The data was released on Friday, so it didn't include a category for children 12 and over, who can now receive the Pfizer vaccine after the Food and Drug Administration granted emergency use Monday.

Bergen New Bridge Medical Center, in Paramus, and Holy Name Medical Center clinics in Teaneck and West New York, have either begun vaccinations on those over 12, or have made appointments available for them.

  • Westwood population with at least one dose: 93 percent of people over the age of 65 have received at least their first shot, while 70 percent of people over 18 have done the same. This means 56 percent of residents have received at least one dose, according to NJDOH data.
  • Westwood population fully vaccinated: 86 percent of residents over the age of 65 have been fully vaccinated, while 59 percent of people 18 and over have done the same. In total, 46 percent of residents are fully vaccinated, according to NJDOH data.
