Westwood-Hillsdale: Flood Warning Issued For Hackensack River

The Hackensack River is at a "moderate flood stage," but should drop to a "minor flood stage" by the end of the day on Wednesday.

WESTWOOD, NJ — The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for a number of communities near the Hackensack River, including Westwood and Hillsdale, until 8 p.m. on Wednesday.

As of 1:44 p.m. on Wednesday, flooding was occurring as the river gauge in Riverdale had reached a moderate flood level, according to the National Weather Service. That level is expected to drop to a minor flood level, but some locations should still expect flood, according to the NWS.

Those include: Pearl River, Norwood, Orangeburg, Westwood, Hillsdale, River Vale, Washington Township, Park Ridge, Closter, Emerson, Old Tappan, Woodcliff Lake, Demarest, Harrington Park, Northvale, Haworth and Rockleigh.

This comes after a nor'easter dumped nearly six inches of rain in Bergen County, and caused flooding on at least one major roadway in the region.
