Bicyclist Critically Injured, Struck By Car In West Babylon: Police

WEST BABYLON, NY — A bicyclist is critically injured, after they were struck by a car while traveling in West Babylon on Tuesday, Suffolk County Police said.

At about 4:22 p.m., 2008 Ford Escape south was traveling Route 109 when the vehicle struck a male bicyclist who was crossing Route 109 eastbound at East Drive.

The bicyclist, whose name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was taken to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip where he was admitted in critical condition, police said.

The driver of the Ford and a 6-year-old passenger were not injured, police said.

The Ford was impounded for a safety check.
