80 Degrees in October? Yes, Please

Record warmth is on tap for Long Island, but it won't last long.

Hello, October summer.

For two days only, Long Islanders can pretend that a long, cold miserable winter isn't on the way as a seemingly confused Mother Nature brings record warmth to the region.

Temperatures will be 15-20 degrees above normal on Tuesday and Wednesday. Highs are expected to reach the upper-70s on Long Island Tuesday and the lower-80s on Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

"A strong area of high pressure over the Southeast will help funnel very warm air northward for the first half of the week," AccuWeather Meteorologist Andy Mussoline says.

Temperatures will drop back near 70 to end the workweek on Thursday and Friday. And then break out that North Face for the weekend when highs will plunge another 10 degrees.
