2 Injured In Head-On Crash In Bethpage

Police say a car left its lane and struck another car that was stopped at a red light at a busy intersection.

BETHPAGE, NY — Two people were hospitalized following a crash in Bethpage Sunday evening.

According to Nassau police, a 61-year-old man was driving a 2021 Subaru Crosstrek north on Stewart Avenue at the intersection of Hempstead Turnpike at 4:54 p.m. Police say he crossed into the southbound lane and hit a 2009 Kia Sorrento, which was stopped at the light, head on.

The man suffered head trauma and was taken to a hospital for treatment. The driver of the Kia, a 49-year-old woman, suffered minor injuries, and was also taken to a hospital.

The Subaru was impounded for a brake and safety check. Police say the investigation is ongoing.
