A 50-Degree Day in Levittown? It's Coming This Week

Spring is 12 days away, but Long Island will get a preview of some spring-like weather this week.

After what seems like an eternity of freezing temperatures and mountains of snow, the island will bust out of that snap, at least for the first half of the week. There will be a chance for some nasty weather (yes, it includes that s-word) Friday night into Saturday, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves. We deserve some sun and temperatures near 50. Enjoy the next few days.

Here’s the full forecast from the National Weather Service:

• Tonight- A chance of flurries after 3am. Partly cloudy, with a low around 26. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.
• Monday- A chance of flurries before 10am. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 47. Wind chill values between 25 and 35 early. West wind 8 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.
• Monday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 22. Calm wind.
• Tuesday- A chance of light rain after 1pm. Increasing clouds, with a high near 45. Wind chill values between 30 and 40 early. Calm wind becoming south 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
• Tuesday Night- A chance of light rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 35. Light and variable wind. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
• Wednesday- A slight chance of light rain before noon. Mostly sunny, with a high near 51. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
• Wednesday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 31.
• Thursday- Sunny, with a high near 43.
• Thursday Night- Partly cloudy, with a low around 26.
• Friday- Partly sunny, with a high near 38.
• Friday Night- A chance of rain and snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 31. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
