LEVITTOWN, NY — Hempstead Turnpike is shut down in Levittown due to an accident, Nassau County police say.

According to police, the eastbound lanes of the road are closed at Emerson Avenue due to a crash involving a pedestrian. Police have not provided more details.

Drivers should use an alternate route.
