Star Student Athlete: Levittown's Lauren Shines Off The Field, Too

LEVITTOWN, NY — We all know student athletes who also bring their A-game to other parts of their lives.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. We’re working to let all your neighbors know the individual stories behind the leaderboard.

This submission comes from Melissa Farrell who nominated her daughter Lauren, of Levittown.

Varsity Cheerleading

Why do you believe the star student athlete should be recognized?

Lauren is a Heisman High School Student Athlete winner. She is a varsity captain for both Varsity CoEd Game Day and for Varsity All-Girl Traditional competition teams. She is a Nassau County champion, Eastern Regionals champion, and New York State champion athlete.

On top of her rigorous sports load, she has a GPA of 99.55 and will be graduating this year with 6 AP courses and 24 college credits under her belt through dual enrollment. She is also a member of the National Honor Society, World Language Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta Mathematics Honor Society, as well as being a NSHSS Scholar.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star student athlete?

Community service is very important to her and she makes time every month to volunteer at various organizations that are important to her, most recently including Operation Christmas Child, Making Strides for Breast Cancer and volunteering to coach a local cheer team.
