The Tough Mudder will raise funds for the Wounded Warrior Project, which assists severely injured veterans. “This is a win-win for all involved,” Mangano said in a statement.

Tough Mudder participants have raised more than $6.5 million for the Wounded Warrior Project to date.

Jennifer Rothman, sales manager at the LICVB&SC says her company would love to see the Tough Mudder become an annual event on Long Island.

Racers can expect to encounter two brand new obstacles on the course:

  • “Dead Ringer” — a transverse across a series of inclined pegs using handheld rings
  • “Cry Baby” — a tunnel crawl through a tear-gas like substance

Obstacles including “Everest” have been redesigned to give a new twist on classic challenges.
