Good Samaritan Returns Laptop to SUNY Binghamton Student

Laptop returned just in time!

Last weekend, I visited my sister and her sons. We were excited about setting up an interview for Evan, who is entering his Senior year at SUNY Binghamton, to help him secure a finance internship. A friend, Paulie, a CFO at a major firm, graciously invited Evan to interview for one of his departments. We were thrilled about the opportunity.

As we prepared for the Google Meetings interview, Evan's excitement turned to dismay. The night before, while at the Cancun airport waiting to board his flight and grab a quick bite, Evan realized he had left his laptop propped against a wall, which remained as he boarded the plane.

We immediately filed reports with the airport and airline, though our hopes of getting the laptop back were modest. Evan began tracking his MacBook through "Find My MacBook" and watched it travel through Georgia and Virginia. The following day, it eventually settled in New York City. It was astonishing to see its journey on the iPhone screen.

Evan sent a message through the tracking service and anxiously waited. The next day, a message arrived: "Hi Evan! I found your MacBook Air at Cancun airport on 6/20/24. I'll bring it back to NYC with me, and we can figure out how to return it to you from there! My phone number is -------.
Best wishes!" A PhD Counseling Psychology Candidate signed the message.

This incredible good Samaritan's gesture meant the world to us. Money was tight for Evan, a young student about to start an online course that required his laptop. Thanks to this remarkable young lady's kindness, Evan could continue his studies without interruption.
