Student Chefs Cater To Family At Lindenhurst High

Lindenhurst High students in culinary arts and hospitality career classes hosted a Culinary Arts and Hospitality Night.

LINDENHURST, NY— Lindenhurst High School school students blended family, food and fun together at a recent on-campus Culinary Arts and Hospitality Night.

Students in the school's culinary arts and hospitality career and technical education class served up a delicious evening for their families during the class’s inaugural Culinary Arts and Hospitality Night, organized by CTE teacher Toni Pastore.

Over the course of the school year, the chefs in training developed their own restaurant ideas. They developed a theme, a menu and a marketing presence in the form of decorations, invitations and social media campaigns.

The students then invited members of their family to the high school for this special night, during which they served up their menu items for a full-course dinner. The visitors could then rate and review the “restaurants” on comment cards.

School officials said the event was "a creative way to give students a taste of the demands of the restaurant industry" and gave them a chance to think about and plan every detail required for a successful eatery. It culminated in a fun and delicious night with a large turnout.
