Taylor Swift Tour Photographer Visits Lindenhurst High School

Photographer and Lindenhurst High alumni Kevin Mazur spoke to current students after working on Taylor Swift's Eras Tour.

LINDENHURST, NY — Celebrity photographer Kevin Mazur graduated from Lindenhurst High School in 1979, and recently paid the school a visit to share his knowledge with art students.

According to school officials, Mazur "impressed" students with stories about his three-decade career as a concert and celebrity photographer and shared tips on how they can also build a successful career in photography.

Throughout his career, Mazur has produced thousands of iconic images of the world’s most famous stars. During his visit to Lindenhurst, he spoke about his start as a rock concert photographer and the work required to sell his photos to magazines and newspapers.

Most recently, Mazur photographed the Met Gala in New York City and the European arm of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour.

Over the years, Mazur made connections with various stars, he said, who came to trust him to take their photos while on tour and at celebrity gatherings. His talk traced the ins and outs of the industry, from film to digital, where he helped pioneer some of the earliest online photo wire services, to the current social media era.

During his presentation, Mazur stressed the importance of building relationships with clients. While mastering photography as a medium is important, he added that treating subjects and colleagues with respect and patience is key.

Mazur said those qualities—in addition to working hard–made it possible for him to gain access to the celebrity and music world.

After the presentation, the students had the chance to enter a raffle to take home Mazur’s prints of various major music stars.
