Vape, THC Detectors Come To Lindenhurst School Bathrooms: Report

LINDENHURST, — Lindenhurst Middle School has installed vape detectors in all student bathrooms, according to a report by CBS News.

The FlySense FS300 vape detectors can pick up nicotine and THC, and can also notify officials of fights or bullying, the outlet reported.

According to the report, the Town of Babylon paid for the detectors with funds from the American Rescue Plan, which provides funding for communities to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Student Vanessa Probst spearheaded the detector installation after researching the harmful effects of vaping, CBS reported.

According to CBS, there are plans to expand these efforts to Lindenhurst High School and other districts like Copiague and Wyandanch.
