AMITYVILLE, NY — Leann and Luigi Pisano wanted to get married right away. She’d been very ill with COVID-19 and there was a new urgency to their plans to wed.

“We're older, we just had a near-death experience for myself,” Leann, who contracted coronavirus in early 2020, said. “We're thinking, ‘What are we going to wait for?’”

They had booked a wedding venue at a country club, she said, but could no longer afford it when Luigi lost his job.

Their only option, she said, was to be married by the mayor of Patchogue.

While they were ultimately able to be married in a park, Leann felt that there should be more options for couples like them.

“I just thought we needed something out there for people who cannot afford the $70,000 wedding — and still be able to provide something nice for them.”

And so, Leann was inspired to create Long Island Wedding Chapel, a Vegas-style wedding service for couples who wish to enjoy the perks of a ceremony without breaking the bank.

Located at 80G Montauk Hwy Suite 1, the business recently moved its location from Patchogue to Amityville in April.

The Chapel offers multiple packages for every couple’s needs, Leann said. Basic ceremonies start at $300, while other packages include flower arrangements, professional photos, hair styling and makeup, and even Elvis tribute singers.

The Chapel also offers to perform ceremonies outdoors in locations such as at Tanner Park or Argyle Park.

Leann told Patch that she will work with each couple on what works best for them, including payment plans.

“Not everybody can afford to pay $300 upfront, especially in these difficult times,” she said. “It’s starting to become, ‘Do I put gas in the car to go to work or, and get pasta for dinner for the week?’”

The Chapel also employs multiple officiants, Leann said, and tries to match them to each couple’s personality.

All couples, regardless of sexual orientation, she said, are welcome. Veterans or those in the military also receive a ten percent discount.

She also serves as an officiant herself, she said.

“I try to get to know the couples when I write the vows and make it all about them,” Leann said. “It's their wedding day.”

Leann told Patch she moved her business to Amityville because of how much she enjoyed the town’s many restaurants and shops.

Every business she partners with, Leann said, is local, within walking distance of the Chapel. She also teams up with local restaurants, if a couple wishes to celebrate with guests over a meal, she said.

“I really would like to see this become more of a destination place for Amityville,” she said. “We really are trying to keep everything local — for the community, as well.”

Amityville, Leann said, is a supportive community where her clients can truly experience the best day of their lives.

“It shouldn't be just for the people that have a very high salary,” she said. “They deserve to have a nice wedding, too.”
