MASSAPEQUA, NY — Budget Inn in Massapequa is now permanently closed and demolition is being planned for the motel, "deemed structurally dangerous and a hub for criminal activity," a Town of Oyster Bay spokesperson said.

Under the settlement terms, all structures on the property will be demolished by June 30, 2025. The Town will get reimbursed for any expenses incurred during the litigation process.

"There’s nothing more important to the Town Board and I than protecting your safety and your quality of life," Supervisor Joseph Saladino said. “This eyesore was the location of violent criminal activity and was in a serious state of disrepair."

Included in the settlement, all certificates of occupancy for the Budget Inn remain revoked, ensuring the structure is not occupied, the town said.
