8-Year-Old Boy Struck By Bullet After Shots Fired Into Long Island Home: Cops

He was struck in his side and then taken to a local hospital for treatment, Suffolk police said.

MEDFORD, NY — An 8-year-old boy was struck by a bullet after someone opened fire on a Medford home early Wednesday morning, Suffolk police said.

Several gunshots were fired from the street into a home on Cedar Lane, between West Lane and Barbara Lane, at around 1:35 a.m., police said, adding that the boy was struck in the side.

The house was "the intended target," according to police. It's under investigation if the shooter or shooters were on foot or in a vehicle, police said.

The boy was taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries, according to police.

The investigation is continuing, police said.
