Long Island Weather: Developing Storm Could Bring Heavy Snow

Who's ready for an end of 2017 snowstorm?!

The National Weather Service issued the following hazardous weather outlook for Long Island on Tuesday afternoon:

There is the potential for a developing coastal storm to bring heavy snow to the area Saturday into Saturday night. There is still uncertainty with the track of the low which will determine the amount of snowfall. Stay tuned.

The odds of snow on Saturday have risen from about 30 percent to 50 percent from earlier forecasts. The NWS has not yet released any estimates on total snowfall.

"How quickly storms from the Midwest and the South converge and strengthen will determine the extent and intensity of the snow from the mid-Atlantic to New England," AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Kristina Pydynowski says.

Tuesday Night- Increasing clouds, with a low around 13. Wind chill values between zero and 5. Northwest wind 8 to 10 mph.

Wednesday- Mostly sunny, with a high near 25. Wind chill values between 5 and 15. Northwest wind 8 to 13 mph.

Wednesday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 9. Wind chill values between -5 and 5. Northwest wind 11 to 15 mph.

Thursday- Sunny and cold, with a high near 19. Wind chill values between -10 and zero. Northwest wind 14 to 18 mph.

Thursday Night- Partly cloudy, with a low around 8. Northwest wind 5 to 9 mph.

Friday- Mostly cloudy, with a high near 22.

Friday Night- A 30 percent chance of snow after 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 16.

Saturday- A 50 percent chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 28.

Saturday Night- A 40 percent chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 9.

Sunday- Mostly sunny, with a high near 21. Blustery.
