Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued As Storms Threaten Weekend

If you have outdoor plans this weekend, you are not going to like this forecast.

The National Weather Service has issued the following hazardous weather outlook for Long Island:

Numerous showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected to develop along a stalling frontal boundary late tonight through Saturday. There is potential for torrential downpours to move over the same areas, bringing rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour, and presenting a localized threat for flash flooding.

Sunday won't be much better with a threat for scattered to numerous showers along with isolated thunderstorms. An unsettled period of weather will then continue into early next week.

If you are lucky enough to be off today or can sneak out of work early, it may be the last great beach day for a while with sunny skies and highs approaching 90.
