Press release from the Town of Brookhaven:

Oct. 23, 2022

On October 11, Councilman Michael Loguercio was at the Brookhaven Town Animal Shelter and Adoption Center where he honored Boy Scout Jason Foerster from Medford for his independent work to earn a “Citizenship in the Community badge” which is required to attain the rank of Eagle Scout. Jason, who is member of Boy Scout Troop 94 in Wading River, was required to visit several organizations that benefit the community and perform eight hours of volunteer service. He asked Linda Klampfl, Brookhaven Animal Shelter and Adoption Center Supervisor, how he could help. She suggested that he collect donations of blankets, towels, toys, and food for the animals at the shelter. He created a flyer about his drive and posted a video on social media with an appeal for help to friends and family. He also went door-to-door with the flyers and experienced overwhelming support for his efforts. The drive proved to be very successful, and he was able to present with bags of blankets, towels, bedding, toys, as well as several bags of unopened food and treats for the dogs and cats at the shelter.
