Millions Of Eggs Recalled For Salmonella Concerns

Over 200 millions eggs, including ones that were shipped to New York, have been recalled because they may be contaminated with salmonella, according to the FDA.

According to the FDA, 22 illnesses have been reported to date. The eggs were distributed from a farm in Hyde County, North Carolina and the FDA says the eggs reached Colorado, Florida, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia.

Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Those infected with salmonella can experience fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. The FDA warns that salmonella can sometimes enter the bloodstream and cause more serious illnesses.

The FDA says anyone who may have bought the affected eggs can return them for a refund.
