Nor'easter Possible For Long Island Super Bowl Weekend

Forecasters are closely watching a storm system that is expected to hit Long Island on Super Bowl weekend.

"A widespread precipitation event is becoming likely this weekend," the National Weather Service says. "Precipitation amounts remain uncertain at this time therefore it is still too early to determine what impacts may occur."

At the moment, the weather service says there's a 30 percent chance of rain and snow on Saturday and Sunday.

"While there is good agreement in regards to timing and track of the system, there remains uncertainties regarding precipitation type especially this far out," the weather service says. "The track and timing of the developing surface low will be key in deciding the precipitation type."

Tuesday- Mostly sunny, with a high near 44. Wind chill values between 25 and 35. Northwest wind 8 to 14 mph.

Tuesday Night- Partly cloudy, with a low around 26. Wind chill values between 20 and 25. Northwest wind around 9 mph.

Wednesday- Sunny, with a high near 38. Wind chill values between 20 and 30. Northwest wind 9 to 11 mph.

Wednesday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 23. North wind 8 to 13 mph.

Thursday- Sunny, with a high near 36.

Thursday Night- Partly cloudy, with a low around 25.

Friday- Mostly sunny, with a high near 41.

Friday Night- Mostly cloudy, with a low around 30.

Saturday- A 30 percent chance of rain after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 42.

Saturday Night- A 30 percent chance of snow. Patchy fog. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 32.

Sunday- A 30 percent chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 44.

Sunday Night- Mostly cloudy, with a low around 32.

Monday- Sunny, with a high near 44.
