Long Island Weather: Snow, Sleet, Freezing Rain Possible

A winter weather advisory has been issued for parts of the island. See the latest forecast.

Snow, sleet and freezing rain may impact the Monday morning commute on Long Island, the National Weather Service says.

A winter weather advisory will be in effect from 10 p.m. Sunday until 7 a.m. Monday for the entire North Shore where precipitation will likely start as snow before transitioning to sleet and then light freezing rain. Snow and sleet are also likely for the South Shore, but no freezing rain is currently expected as a wintry mix should change over to plain rain.

Just a trace of snow accumulation is expected for the entire island.
