Thunderstorm Chance Today and Then Big Weather Changes Coming Up
Here is a look at when to expect a chance of stormy weather on Long Island and after that some big weather changes on the way.
We've been enjoying some nice weather over the past several days and that will change today as there will be more clouds than sun, and there is a concern that some thunderstorms may pop up later in the day.
Once the rainy/stormy weather rolls by we'll notice temps significantly on the rise as we head into the Father's Day weekend.
This weekend looks amazing with nothing but sunshine and temps in the 80s.

The National Weather Service says for today, "Showers will overspread the region this morning, moving east this afternoon. High temperatures will be closer to average... As a trailing cold front approaches, there will be a chance for a few gusty thunderstorms ... this evening into tonight, with mainly a few showers farther east.
"Skies will clear late tonight in the wake of the cold front, with overnight lows in the mid 50 to mid 60s. Thursday will be a dry, breezy and warm day between the departing frontal system and high pressure building to the west," the weather service states.

The full Long Island forecast:
Wednesday- Showers, mainly before 2pm. Steady temperature around 70. Southwest wind 11 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
Wednesday Night- A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Cloudy during the early evening, then gradual clearing, with a low around 62. Southwest wind 9 to 14 mph.
Thursday- Sunny, with a high near 82. Breezy, with a west wind 10 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph.
Thursday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 59. Northwest wind 9 to 14 mph.
Friday- Sunny, with a high near 76. North wind 10 to 13 mph.
Friday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 59.
Saturday- Sunny, with a high near 81.
Saturday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 63.
Sunday- Mostly sunny, with a high near 80.
Sunday Night- Mostly cloudy, with a low around 67.
Monday- Partly sunny, with a high near 83.
