YAPHANK, NY— Long Island families looking for something unique to do close to home can head to a real working farm for a camping weekend. The Suffolk County Farm and Education Center is bringing back their family camp out events this summer, after a pandemic pause.

The weekend slots are first-come, first-serve via website registration and are scheduled for: May 22, June 12, July 17, August 21 and September 18.

Campers can meet the farm animals, take a wagon ride, view a family evening movie and join a sunset hike around the farm property. A pancake breakfast is also included. Because of all the farm animals and protected land, however, campfires are banned.
