Winter Weather Advisory Issued For Long Island

The latest on how much snow to expect and when it will start falling. And yes, you will need a shovel.

The National Weather Service has now issued a winter weather advisory for Long Island with the season's first accumulating snowfall on the way.

The advisory will be in effect from 6 a.m. Saturday until 6 a.m. Sunday. A total of 4-6 inches of snow is expected across the entire island, except for the South Fork, which will likely see 2-4 inches.

A winter weather advisory means periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving, the NWS says.
