  1. Firefighters and an off-duty police officer rescued a woman and her three dogs from a house fire in Islip Terrace on Sunday. The fire at 4 Cleveland St. around 11 a.m. trapped the woman in the basement. (Patch)
  2. Family and friends gathered at the memorial for the victims of TWA Flight 800 at Smith Point County Park in Shirley on Sunday. Relatives and friends of the over 200 people killed 26 years ago continue to hold the memorials at the beach, close to where the plane exploded over the ocean. (Subscription: Newsday)
