Firework Thrown Into Elmont 7-Eleven: Nassau Police

The explosion caused damage and the Arson/Bomb Squad is investigating, police said.

ELMONT, NY — A man entered the 7-Eleven at 254 Elmont Road at 11:33 p.m. Wednesday, lit a firework and threw it into the middle aisle before running away with two other people, the Nassau County Arson/Bomb Squad reported.

The explosion caused damage to the surrounding store shelves and merchandise, police said.

The Elmont Fire Department responded to extinguish the flames. No injuries were reported.

Police described the suspect as a male black with a slight build wearing all dark clothes and a face mask. The other two were also described as men in dark clothing.

They ran west on Hoffman Avenue, police said.

Detectives request anyone with information regarding the incident to contact the Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS or call 911. All callers will remain anonymous.
