Some Long Islanders leave the state entirely, but those that never want to leave are in luck as SmartAsset's retirement calculator says some of the best retirement spots in New York are right here in Nassau and Suffolk counties.
To determine the best places to retire in the state, SmartAsset takes into consideration state and local tax rates, how many doctor's offices, recreation centers and retirement centers there are per 1,000 people, as well as the percentage of seniors in that town.
