Family Hydrogen Energy Activities to be Held at Hempstead Library

CSTL partners with Air Liquide to host family-friendly hydrogen energy activities across LI on April 22 (Earth Day), May 20 and June 9.

Hempstead, NY; April 17, 2018 – The Center for Science Teaching & Learning (CSTL) has partnered with Air Liquide, the world leader in gases and technologies and services for industry and health, to offer family-friendly, hands-on activities, as part of Air Liquide's commitment to educate local communities on hydrogen energy.

Beginning this month, families are invited to join the CSTL and Air Liquide to build water molecules, discover the power of hydrogen fuel in rockets and in cars, and more.

  • Sunday, April 22 (Earth Day) at 11 a.m.: Hempstead Library - 115 Nichols Ct, Hempstead, NY 11550
  • Sunday, May 20 at 11 a.m.: West Hempstead Library - 500 Hempstead Ave, West Hempstead, NY 11552
  • Saturday, June 9 at 11 a.m.: Center for Science Teaching and Learning - 1450 Tanglewood Rd, Rockville Centre, NY 11570

"We want families to do some great hands-on activities while learning about Hydrogen which is so important to our lives," declared Dr. Ray Ann Havasy, Director of Center for Science Teaching and Learning.

"As we work to build the first hydrogen energy station in Hempstead, as well as the first hydrogen energy infrastructure in the Northeast, we believe it is our corporate responsibility to help foster an environment that will ultimately shape the next generation as early adopters of natural gas vehicles," said Ole Hoefelmann, CEO of Air Liquide Advanced Technologies U.S. LLC. "We are proud to lead this effort with the Center of Science Teaching and Learning, and look forward to bringing hands-on experiences that educate the community on hydrogen and its technological impact."

Families interested in participating must register through www.CSTL.org or calling (516) 764-0045. Space is limited.

CSTL, a not-for-profit organization with a mission of encouraging science learning and literacy, is located at Tanglewood Preserve in Rockville Centre. CSTL focuses on creating programs that introduce people to the excitement of STEM (science, technology, engineering and math).
