Glen Cove St. Patrick's Day Parade March 22

Long Island's best St. Patrick's Day Parade!

The Glen Cove St. Patrick’s Day Parade takes place on Sunday, March 22, 2015 at 1pm in downtown Glen Cove. This dazzling event is the premier St. Patrick’s Day celebration on the North Shore of Long Island and it is the largest annual parade in the Glen Cove area.

The Grand Marshal of this year’s parade is the Very Reverend Dom Elias Carr. Fr. Elias is the Pastor of St. Rocco Parish in Glen Cove and the Headmaster of All Saints Regional Catholic School. He will be accompanied by Aides to the Grand Marshal Laurieann DeFilippo and Robert Ottaviano.

This year’s parade will have as its special theme a celebration of the heritage of Catholic school education on the Gold Coast. This celebration is in recognition of two important anniversaries approaching in September: the 25th Anniversary of All Saints Catholic School, and also the 100th Anniversary of Catholic school education here on the Gold Coast of Long Island. Catholic school education began on the North Shore in September, 1915 with the opening of St. Patrick School in a landmark building on the bucolic hillside setting where All Saints is now located.

The backbone of the Glen Cove St. Patrick’s Day Parade, as always, will be its exciting mix of marching groups, including many bands of Irish pipers and other musicians. Further color will be added to the festivities by vintage cars, costumed performers, face painters, fire and police units and much more. The parade is a true community celebration of the coming of Spring with many of our area’s ethnic organizations, often in traditional costume, taking part. Come, join the fun!

All Saints Catholic School was founded in 1990 when the four local parish schools, St. Patrick, St. Boniface, St. Hyacinth and St. Mary were consolidated into one new Catholic school supported by those parishes and by St. Rocco Parish. This move allowed Catholic school education to continue in this area, and All Saints has moved from strength to strength ever since. The school excels even by the already lofty standards set by Long Island’s Catholic schools, combining the best of the Catholic school tradition with the most modern educational methodology and technology. All this has been enhanced in recent years by a renewed focus on academic excellence and the utilization of a new preparatory school model. The school has an early childhood program for Nursery, Pre-K and Kindergarten, an Elementary School program for Grades 1 through 5 and a Middle School program for Grades 6 through 8.
