People, Pit Bulls Found In Home Of Dead Long Island Resident: Police

Officers responded to a call from a neighbor and found a woman, two men and five dogs, police said.

NEW HYDE PARK, NY — Three people accused of squatting in a dead person's home in New Hyde with five pit bulls have been arrested, Nassau County police said.

Police said officers from the Third Precinct responded to 109 Evans Street at 4:10 p.m. Thursday after a report of possible squatters in a deceased neighbor’s residence.

Police said it appeared a 19-year-old man from Thomaston, a 33-year-old man from Roosevelt and a 19-year-old woman of unknown address were living there illegally.

The Town of North Hempstead Animal Control removed the five pit bulls from the residence and they were transported to the North Hempstead Animal Shelter.

Juan Marte, 19, of 23 Gilchrest Road, Thomaston; Dionny Quiroz, 33, of 75 East Raymond Road, Roosevelt; and Natalie Bautista, 19, each face a charge of second-degree criminal trespass, police said.
