These were the top baby names registered with the Social Security Administration last year by NY parents. Did your kid's name make the list?

The numbers are in, the letters are arranged and the official list of the country’s most popular baby names of 2014 is out.

The Social Security Administration released the 2014 results on Friday. Again in 2014, Noah was the most popular name for boys in the country, but there was a change at the top for girls — Emma moved up from the No. 2 spot in 2013 to claim No. 1 in 2014.

In New York, parents didn’t always fall in line with the nation. Joseph, Matthew and Lucas, for instance, placed in New York’s Top 10, but not in the nation’s Top 10.

Lots of organizations release lists of top names, but the Social Security Administration data are based on ”a 100% sample of our records on Social Security card applications as of the end of February 2015.”
