Early Morning Mother's Day Baseball Bat Attack Seriously Injures 2

The two victims were rushed to the hospital where with the 66-year-old required emergency surgery for his injuries.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A brutal, early morning attack left two men in the hospital, with one rushed to surgery.

On Sunday, May 12, at about 3:45 a.m., New Rochelle police were called to the corner of Washington Avenue and Fourth Street because of an assault with a baseball bat.

Two victims were located at the scene, a 36-year-old man and his 66-year-old uncle. Both men suffered serious injuries to the head. The 66-year-old was breathing but unresponsive, according to officers.

The two were taken to the hospital where the older victim required emergency surgery.

New Rochelle detectives soon had a suspect in custody. Jose Ochoa, 28, of New Rochelle, is charged with first degree felony assault, second degree felony assault, two felony counts of possession of a weapon and two misdemeanor counts of criminal possession of a weapon.

There is no word on the current condition of the victims. Police are withholding the names of the victims for now.
