Gun Menacing Investigation Leads To Brass Knuckles, Loaded Glock

Detectives found the car believed to be used in a scary incident that happened on Tuesday —​ what they found next was troubling.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Police say that locating the vehicle involved in a frightening incident on Tuesday led to the arrest of two men yesterday evening.

On Wednesday, just after 5:30 p.m., New Rochelle detectives located a vehicle at D’Onofrio Field that was suspected as being used in a menacing with a handgun incident that had occurred the previous day. As investigators approached the vehicle to interview the driver, they spotted a set of brass knuckles in plain view in the vehicle. The license plate on the vehicle was registered to another vehicle, according to police.

The driver was placed under arrest. A search of the vehicle led to a 9mm Glock handgun with 17 rounds in an extended magazine. At this point, the passenger in the car was also placed under arrest.

Detectives said they were able to confirm the driver’s involvement in the June 4, menacing case and filed additional charges for that incident.

Both the driver, 20-year-old Jadon Zakai Cappas, of the Bronx, and passenger, 21-year-old Daniella Ronas, of New Rochelle, were charged with felony criminal possession of a weapon and felony possession of an ammunition feeding device. Cappas was also charged with misdemeanor criminal possession of a weapon, menacing and a second count of felony criminal possession of a weapon.
