Richard Gere, Alejandra Silva Enjoy A Date With Maria In New Rochelle

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — If you thought you saw Richard Gere in New Rochelle on Saturday night, your eyes were not playing tricks on you.

Former Pound Ridge resident Richard Gere, who has since purchased properties in North Salem and New Canaan, Connecticut, visited Maria Restaurant in New Rochelle over the weekend, according to the restaurant's Instagram.

"What an honor to feed Hollywood legend Richard Gere and his wife Alejandra this past Saturday," the restaurant's owner wrote, also calling it an "extraordinary visit."

Maria Restaurant was recently in the news for being named a 2023 Michelin Bib Gourmand, one of only 13 restaurants in Westchester County. The "Bibs" are restaurants that combine "good quality and good value cooking."

The restaurant was previously named a Bib Gourmand in 2020, 2021, and 2022 as well. In addition, Maria Restaurant was named Westchester Magazine's Best New Restaurant in 2019.

According to the owners, "as an homage to our mother, at Maria Restaurant the old meets new Italian cuisine is enjoyed in an industrial modern farmhouse space with massive chandeliers, striking sapphire blue banquettes against whitewashed 100 year old brick walls with hardwood floors and a comfortable 14 seat white quartz bar."

The menu includes favorites like eggplant fries, salmon tartare, burrata and beets, truffled green beans, charred carrots, Hudson Valley mushroom risotto, black linguini, filet mignon, ribeye for two, Scottish salmon, and charred octopus.
